These Astrocytes are cryopreserved for convenience, they are ready to use and assay ready within 48 hrsOnce thawed, Axol's Astrocytes display all indicative markers and will respond to glutamate stimulation, a key functional characteristic within 48-60hrs. They also express markers showing that Axol's Human iPSC-Derived Astrocytes are physiologically representative of human primary astrocytes.

These are derived from integration-free, induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) under fully defined growth conditions using a completely reproducible process to enable researchers to gain further insight into the mechanisms that govern CNS development, disease onset and drug response.

Astrocyte dysfunction has been implicated in a number of neurological conditions such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases, autism, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), Rett syndrome and schizophrenia.

Axol’s Human iPSC-derived Astrocytes offer a convenient and physiologically-relevant tool to study these cells as an isolated population or within co-culture and multiple culture populations with other neuronal cells for complex analysis of the central nervous system (CNS).

Axol's Human iPSC-Derived Astrocytes express prototypical phenotype markers such as glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP), S100bAQP4ALDHL1L and EAAT1.

These Astrocytes have also been further validated where they display other key biomarkers including VimentinKir4.1 (potassium channel) and CD44.

Primary Human Small Airway Epithelial Cells (PHSAEC) are a good source of a mixed cell population for use in an in vitro model for studying the function and pathophysiology of the respiratory epithelium. PHSAEC allow a researcher to perform FACS sorting of the diverse population of epithelial cells found within the cell composition. These cells also allow for a representative sample of RNA/DNA/Protein from the epithelial cell mix which is representative of individual donors.



Primary Human Tracheal Epithelial Cells (PHTEC) can be used as a source for repeated differentiated cell stocks useful for any analysis procedure typically performed with freshly isolated cells derived from ex vivo tissue. Given the cell composition of ciliated, non-ciliated, goblet and basal cells, PHTEC are a good source of a mixed cell population for use in an in vitro model for studying the function and pathophysiology of the respiratory epithelium. PHTEC are a perfect source for single-cell analysis from individual donors. PHTEC allow a researcher to perform FACS analysis of the diverse population of epithelial cells found within the tracheal cell composition.
