Operations Coordinator

Location: Cambridge, UK

About The Role

Part of the Operations team, you will work internationally as part of Axol’s innovative supply network. This is a developmental role based at Axol’s HQ in Cambridge and will suit someone who is passionate about putting customers first and always striving for continuous improvement.

The role will be extremely varied and you will learn a lot about how the business operates. Every day will be different and you will be involved in lots of ad-hoc tasks, contributing to different departments around the business. There is a huge opportunity for personal progression as the company grows.

Tasks & Responsibilities

New Product Introduction

  • Liaise with new suppliers to onboard them and their products to Axol
  • Identify new technologies, categories and products and be part of the sourcing team
  • Promote the Axol Access portal through phone calls, emails and meetings with suppliers
  • Generate content to support the marketing of new products and promote customer awareness

Existing Products

  • Produce data to support pre-stocking strategies
  • Liaise with suppliers to source batches which meet specific customer specifications
  • Place purchase orders with suppliers, optimising bulk ordering and delivery wherever possible

Cell Sourcing

  • We don’t have everything (yet!) so when a customer needs something, we find it for them!
  • Once a cell type is acquired, productise it by creating the SKU and listing it for sale on our website
  • Increase our network of biobanks, tissue procurement agencies and sourcing routes

KPIs

  • Produce and analyse data ahead of quarterly inventory reviews
  • Define and optimise lead times from source to customer delivery

Operations Team

  • Work collaboratively to share best practice and provide cover with the whole operations team
  • Coordinate double blind shipments using LN2 / dry ice
  • Prepare for new employee onboarding by ensuing SOPs are up to date
  • Help to ensure a culture of continuous improvement by promoting Lean & 5S following training

About The Role

You will be part of the operations team, helping to serve our customers in the US. Your main duties will be focused on the logistics for our sensitive, temperature controlled stock as it is received into the site and shipped onwards to customers. The role will be extremely varied and you will learn a lot about how the business operates. Every day will be different and you will be involved in lots of ad-hoc tasks, contributing to different departments around the business. Tasks & Responsibilities

Logistics & Shipping

  • Ensure all inbound and outbound shipments are processed on time & accurately
  • Develop relationships with couriers to identify the best domestic & international services
  • Oversee annual cycle count of saleable inventory
  • Work closely with other offices to provide the best possible service to Axol’s customers
  • Ensure proper temperature controlled stock management
  • Compile, analyse and circulate KPIs to global management team

Site Management

  • Ensure safe working practices & environment
  • Source & sustain consumables & provisions such as dry ice, PPE and of course coffee!!!
  • Apply company risk mitigation strategy through backup systems & recovery plan for critical stock
  • Follow company 5S & continuous improvement ethos
  • Feed into and help plan site strategy for future needs

Supply Chain

  • Assist with US supplier communication, query resolution & ordering on an ad-hoc basis
  • Organise double blind shipments between US sites

Customer Support

  • Assist with US customer support on an ad-hoc basis
